QSFP+ 3SR4 Pluggable Optical Transceiver Module for 10G and 40G Ethernet Applications
The Avago AFBR-79E3PZ is a 4-channel QSFP+ pluggable optical transceiver module device with an integrated pull tab for 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) applications supporting extended link distance up to 300 m (400 m) using OM3 (OM4) multimode fiber (MMF). The device is capable of inter-operating with IEEE 10GBASE-SR compliant products that can manage higher incoming optical power. The AFBR-79E3PZ is a high performance transceiver module for short-range multi-lane data communication and interconnect applications. It integrates four data lanes in each direction with each lane operating at 10.3125 Gbps, giving an aggregated bandwidth of 40 Gbps. This transceiver can also be used for high density 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications. It allows optical interoperability up to 300 m (400 m) using OM3 (OM4) MMF with any 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) transceivers, compliant to the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR specifications with a minimum 1 dBm of receiver overload. It provides an effective port count of over 100 within 1 RU rack. The pull tab facilitates the insertion and extraction of the device in high port density environment. The device is designated as an QSFP+ 3SR4 solution, where the digit "3" represents 300m link distance using OM3 MMF. The AFBR-79E3PZ is designed to operate over MMF systems using a nominal wavelength of 850 nm. The electrical interface uses a 38 contact edge type connector. The optical interface uses an 8 or 12 fiber MTP (MPO) connector. The module incorporates Avago's proven integrated circuit and VCSEL technology to provide reliable long life, high performance, and consistent service.
